Upper Valmarecchia Tour Long
Itinerary: Santarcangelo, Talamello, Sant’Agata Feltria, Petrella Guidi, Pennabilli, Maiolo, San Leo, Santarcangelo
This tour, which is scenically very interesting and which comprises some of the most beautiful and challenging slopes of the Valley, will really put your legs to the test. But as always in the Valmarecchia, it is well worth the effort due to the magical hamlets and roads that you will come across along the way. Setting off from Santarcangelo you will cycle along the Valley up to Talamello, where a gentle, yet constant slope will lead you to the old hamlet of Sant’Agata Feltria. You will then cross the Marecchia River at Petrella Guidi and cycle up towards the town of Pennabilli. Passing under the ruins of the Maiolo Fortress, you will climb up to the renowned town of San Leo, and then descend towards the Valley until you return to the departure point.
Curiosities
In the small, suggestive medieval town of Talamello, just before Sant’Agata, there is a wonderful panoramic terrace with a view of San Leo: it is the ideal place to rest your legs and take some photos to show your friends, and if you are not in a hurry, we suggest you visit the main square of Sant’Agata, where one of the oldest theatres in Italy stands, and stroll along the grass covered streets of the small medieval town of Petrella Guidi.
