Towards the Rocca delle Caminate on an MTB

This itinerary will enable you to discover the hills around Predappio, a corner of Romagna where Sangiovese wine boasts a very ancient history already mentioned in a statute of 1383 which regulated civil life and grape-growing. Easy and suitable for all lovers of pleasant rides through the countryside, this loop tour winds along pleasant dirt roads, but with a number of climbs that should not be underestimated. Nothing new: riding in the Romagna countryside is fairly hard work, but also very rewarding. One of the most suggestive highlights of this itinerary recommended for MTB and gravel bikes is certainly the Rocca delle Caminate, an 11th century castle situated on a hill in the municipality of Meldola.

Medieval Pageant – Since 2000 the Rocca delle Caminate has hosted a medieval pageant every year, a celebration of the battles that characterized the history of the stronghold between 1200 and 1400. For the occasion, the castle’s park takes on the guise of an ancient medieval village, hosting various shows, with fire eaters, falconers and musicians.
