Lugo: amid pasta and wine
Itinerary: Lugo di Romagna, Granarolo, Casa Baldi, Traversara, Borghetto Traversara, Bagnacavallo, Lugo di Romagna
A pleasant ride to discover the wines of Romagna. This route runs entirely over country roads between Lugo, Bagnacavallo and the river Lamone. On the route you will have the opportunity to visit the local wineries and take time to taste the wines of the area, including Rubicone IGT, Ravenna IGT and Romagna DOC Trebbiano. Romagna is a land of excellent pasta factories and Lugo is a fine example. At the end of the tour we recommend a stop at the Bottega degli Antichi Sapori to see expert hands from Romagna making fresh pasta of all kinds, including the famous tortellini, lasagne and tagliatelle. Here the social cooperative Socialwork also offers job opportunities to pasta makers and to those who want to sell it to the public.
Curiosities
Palazzo San Giacomo
Called the “muraìon” in Romagna dialect because of its 84-metre-long facade, Palazzo San Giacomo is a historic building that stands on the right bank of the river Montone, near the village of Russi. The ancient summer residence of Count Rasponi houses paintings by Philipp Jakop Wörndle, Ercole Sangiorgio and Giuliano Roncalli and is now used for events such as the Ravenna Festival.
