Dirt tracks and Valsenio brewery
Itinerary: Casola Valsenio, Prugno, Orsara, Frassineta, Baffadi, Casola Valsenio
This circular itinerary takes cyclists through the hills of the Senio Valley on a route that leads along thrilling dirt tracks, includes a few climbs but above all, offers breath-taking views. It begins in Casola Valsenio and after a few kilometres, takes cyclists to Giardino delle Erbe, a natural oasis run by Cooperativa Montana Valle del Senio. The oasis boasts hundreds of species of aromatic and officinal herbs that have been used in cookery and medicine since mediaeval times. Continuing along other dirt tracks, the route climbs and descends towards Mount Battaglia and its famous fortress, before heading into an area of unspoilt natural beauty, reaching an altitude of almost 800 metres above sea level. The route continues downhill, returning towards Casola Valsenio and flanking the Senio River. In the small hamlet of Baffadi, cyclists will find their reward for the day: a fresh beer at Valsenio craft brewery.
